While at the Sara Duke Memorial Gardens on the campus of Duke University, I saw a great blue heron with a small catfish he(she?) had caught. The gardens were quiet so I was able to just sit and watch him/her for about half an hour.I've never been so close to a heron before. They are endangered in Saskatchewan so you don't see them very often. Apparently they are quite common in North Carolina.
I learned two things: 1) herons are beautiful
2) catfish are really ugly.
